this is a fluffy relationship. over the course of however long it takes to create v0.6, i'm going to put an array full of these into every single fluffy to turn casual fluffies into a soap opera simulator.
right now, fluffies are completely obsessed with the player. their only interactions with other fluffies consist of murdering, fucking, and murdering over fucking, and when they don't have anything better to do, they just run around and yell "HI, DADDEH!" not anymore.
the first thing that came to mind was making mothers care about their babies. in addition to making families mean something, this would give morality in mares a use outside of cannibalism. after taking another look at the variables above, i split love into two variables: lust and parental. obviously, parental is the one we'll be using here. in the birth routine, i added a few lines of code that would create a new relationship in the mother and set parental to a number that would depend on the mother's morality.
oh, and i also added the identifier of the fluffy in question as a variable. fluffies have always had id numbers from the very first release, with 0 being the first fluffy spawned, 1 being the second, and so on. up until now, this has never been used for anything besides keeping living fluffies from doing this...
...which i should really fix in the corpses, too, but right now, we're doing basic relationships, so i'm not going to focus on that.
just as i said i was going to focus on relationships, i decided to give mares pregnant bellies. mares who had more foals and were farther along had bigger bellies.
but on to the relationships. the bond was created, but it did approximately jack shit, so i decided to implement something that had been on my mind for a while: lactation. of course, since i seemed to be in a visual mood, that meant drawing a pixelated crotch titty and saving it to my computer.
the things i do for you sick fucks. after dumping some new lactation-related variables into the mess that is the script that contains fluffy variables, i added in alternate dialogue for hungry lactating mothers, added milk production and increased hunger gain into the update function in the main fluffy script, and made fluffies start lactating after giving birth, as well as allowing cannibalism to be rapidly passed on through milk. then, after excessive amounts of fucking around with the fluffy animations, i went through the script and created a bunch of alternate actions for chirpies. i also made them very fragile, a chirpy taking triple fall/smack damage and starving to death in a little over the time it takes for an adult to get hungry enough to ask for food at all.
in other words, be careful with chirpies.
in my first test, i didn't configure chirpy hunger gain right, so they ended up getting obscenely hungry obscenely fast and starting to starve immediately upon birth. in the next, they tried to nurse from each other instead of their mother. in the third test, the foals were acting as they should have been acting, but the mother wasn't producing enough milk for them.
in the fourth test, the mother produced way too much milk, as even with four foals to feed, she still ended up with big, saggy tits by the time the fifth foal i had set aside to starve finally died.
then, there wasn't enough in the next test. again. i found a nice middle ground in the sixth test, the mother producing just barely enough milk for four foals, but she still needed a little more, as the reintroduction of the fifth foal sent the whole family into a downward spiral that ended with the deaths of all five foals. the next test seemed promising, the mother successfully feeding all her foals without growing huge, obscene tits, but then all the foals died after opening their eyes.
i went through the code and discovered the cause: i put some code meant for starving chirpies in the wrong place, causing satisfied fluffies who weren't at max health to rapidly lose health. i quickly fixed that, and i also stopped lactating mares from gaining sex drive and fixed some other bugs that were causing chirpies to spontaneously open their eyes when pooping and being set down.
what does this have to do with relationships? not much right now. is this viable in a feral world? no, because mares have no desire to stay close to their foals and will run off if you let them. in the next post, i'll fix that.

--has all she needs: crotchtits as big enough it can be for a max of 5 foals
--has not that much: varies between how much she ate the last minute
---enough to not be asking for food everytime: enough for 3-4 foals
---barely enough: last 60 seconds she went trough one of the starvation levels(ex: pwease daddeh give nummies or "su hungry"): 1-2 foals
--if she has barely enough food and has too much foals she will start eating the rejects then last favorites ( to see in priority section)

we all know they are fuckdumb and will seek colors as the main factor of appreciation:
-color:
i'm basing it on a RGB scheme but ou can convert HEX pretty easily with 255,255,255 or ffffff as white
--[after 5 hours on it] yeah nah this is pretty impossible to make an equation out of it without days of insanity of it, so i propose you to make a 64x64 square that has the whole color spectrum and shades and but circles with a center, the farther the fluffy's color is from all the cicles the better his color is.
--color relativity: the closest the flyffy's color is to the mother the more she will like him, potentially making it the "bestest babbeh"
-physical features: if the liking of the mother to a foal is between 0 and 1, having wings gives +0.2 and horns gives +0.25 and a further 0.1 if the mother has the sames features (so alicorns have a deeper bond, why not) and if the baby is a runt, they get -0.75 priority, so they have a chance before some poopy babbehs.
-morality: if the mother has a low enough morality(not that low though) she will have the possibility to select "bestest bahhehs" and a lower one would result to the following events, the latter ones being the lower the morality: not feeding the less liked, injuring the less liked, killing(stompig) the less liked, eating alive the less liked(although this becomes available much earlier if hunger is high enough)
-numbers: the higher babbehs a mare have the less attention she will give them in general, better would be attention/(half of the square root of nb of foals)
-last is how to prevent one mother from liking one more from another:
blinding the mare (blinded variable) either foverver with some weapon or with a blindfold
or second is to have them a really high morality
and last comes foal-painting wich is really liked by the comunity because it's innovative: (add new variables such as the color they were before and their physical aspects like horns)
have a tool that changes their colour, either for better or worse
painting a poopie babbeh will make the mare surprised and happy an if you paint her favourite bahheh in pure shitty brown she will possibly break down (morality highly fall, possibly pushing her to eat and kill all her babies)
and finally if you paint it without the mothere here to see she will simply not reckognise it as her pet and will not feed it or smack it, the foal clueless why she hate him now
bonus:
-if morality is low enough and that her bestest babbah dissapears (put really high, killed and trashed, or simply painted beyond reckognition, she will wander around calling her best foal while refusing to feed her other foals with a slight decrease of morality over time until complete breakdown
