i'm not dead

assuming my renewed desire to work on this game lasts longer than two hours, i am officially back at this bullshit. when i stopped, i was about to implement the ability to export fluffies, but i have no idea where the kennel icon i made for it went, and i lost all the export-related code, so i have a better idea: alicorn stillbirth. the thing about the alicorn gene is that it creates stillborn abominations if it isn't being expressed in a fluffy with genes for both wings and a horn. but that isn't actually in the game, so we're going to implement it.

the first thing i did was relearn my way around my shitty-ass code that i haven't touched in three months. the second thing i did was alter the random spawning script so that it can't produce a fluffy with two alicorn genes unless that fluffy's race genes would allow it to survive as a regular alicorn.

but actually, i didn't do that, because i saw some screen zooming functionality i had commented out and felt the need to reimplement it in a way i was 78% sure would actually work this time. and holy mother of fuck, it actually worked. i wasn't really sure what i was doing, but the scrolling actually functioned smoothly. none of that weird jittering bullshit i remember getting before.

i did actually do the alicorn thing after that. i made the script force one of the alicorn slots to be false if it generated a fluffy that wouldn't be able to survive under the new alicorn rules. meanwhile, mares giving birth would instead take a shitload of damage and deliver a dead foal if this happened.

conveniently, the tester stallion was a psychotic rapist. i later pillowed him because fuck him. i also forgot to actually save the script, so the edits didn't take effect.

my next testers were all stallions, but i stopped going the natural route and impregnated them with hacks anyway as an example of just how many shits i fail to give.

i hacked this fluffy to make him alicorn-positive and unable to actually give birth to a living alicorn. needless to say, it was a success. the foals were born dead, and the fluffy died because of how much damage he was taking from each birth.

i fucked around a whole bunch after that and made a few cannibal alicorn farms, fixing a few bugs along the way. i also encountered the legendary "infinite ghost foals" bug:

last time i worked with this game, i tweaked the fluffy prefab so the ghosts would be able to survive. the bug is affecting both of the mares pictured, and as i suspected, they don't have any references to the genetics of the fathers of their foals. i went into the fluffy code and tried to figure it out.

but first, i commented the shit out of all the functions and learned how to collapse them. i didn't know you could collapse a function to get it out of the way before now, if you can believe that. i ended up only allowing stallions to ask for special huggies. along the way, i discovered a "domestic abuse" scenario that wasn't actually reachable, because rapist stallions just take what they want without bothering to ask first. thus, a fourth category of rapists was born: the ones that ask, but it doesn't matter, because they won't take no for an answer.

after a bit of tinkering, i had no idea what the fuck i had done. what i had done turned out to be literally nothing, so i went back into the code, wanting to die at how clunky and uncomfortable it had become to navigate through it. eventually, though, i got it working!

stallions can make mares their bitches now. but you know what sounds like even more fun? making the mares lie down and take it!
